Revelation 2

Summary:

Revelation chapters two and three are the continuation of chapter one and describe the specific messages given to each of the seven churches: unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. Each church receives a commendation, and five of the seven receive a reproof. Besides being messages to these literal churches, “the symbols used reveal the condition of the church at different periods in the history of the world.”1 The angel of each of the seven churches was to receive a message from God by the pen of the aged apostle John. Chapter two begins with the message for the angel of the first church.
